Would I be able to make a cardigan look like this?

Aha. So what I'm trying to say is, if I bought a regular black and white cardigan like that one, would I be able to rip it like the one in Urban Outfitters? I wouldn't know how to rip it like that but my grandma might. What do you guys think?
