If God sent a prophet today, why should we bother to listen when we already have the Bible?

Of course I have an answer that works for me, but I don't seem to be very good at explaining it to my evangelical friends. Perhaps that is because I can't understand why anyone would not want to listen to a messenger sent by God. (This question umes that the messenger under discussion really is sent by God.)
