Has the message of our World war 2 Veterans been forgotten and sidestepped ?

i wasn't aware the the Canadians played such a large part in World War Two. my uncle s a surviving w-w-2 veteran. when we get together and talk. his message to me is "war is brutal; it is a living hell. both sides think they they are in the right but to be honest both sides are wrong."
