Chinese Visa Problem?

Unfortunately this kinds of mistake are not uncommon, and it is not just the Chinese who are particular about names being correct. You will find that all airlines will not even let you board if the name on your pport does not match EXACTLY the name on the booking. The nature of the problem is simply that the names do not match. It is not unknown for people to try and enter the country using false names, so they have to be extra careful. They are unlikely to change their mind. Your best course of action is to follow the advice given you by the university and learn from the mistake.
